Name of Revolutionary Education Site: Martyrs' Cemetery, Xindu District, Chengdu
Historical Background of the Martyrs' Cemetery
The Xindu District Martyrs' Cemetery was established in the 1950s, primarily to commemorate revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance Against Japan, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The cemetery houses the remains of hundreds of martyrs, each with a story of heroic sacrifice. They gave their precious lives for national independence and the liberation of the people.
Reflections During the Visit
The moment I stepped into the cemetery, my heart was heavy with emotion. A tall monument stands in the center of the cemetery, inscribed with the characters "The People's Heroes Are Immortal." These words represent the highest tribute to the martyrs and an inspiration for future generations to continue striving. Around the monument are neatly arranged martyrs' graves, each headstone engraved with the martyr's name and deeds, evoking images of their heroic fearlessness in life.
Before the martyrs' graves, I bowed in silent tribute, filled with emotion. Behind every martyr lies a moving story. They paid with their lives for national independence and the people's freedom. Especially those young soldiers who chose to sacrifice in the prime of their lives — their spirit commands the deepest respect.
The heroic deeds and selfless dedication of the martyrs deeply moved me. I realized that today's happy life was hard-won, purchased with the blood and lives of countless martyrs. As young people of the new era, we must not only remember history but also inherit and carry forward the spirit of the revolutionary martyrs.
Post-Visit Reflection
During the visit, I deeply experienced the martyrs' noble spirit of sacrificing themselves without hesitation. Before them, personal difficulties and setbacks seem so insignificant. They defended the nation's dignity and the people's freedom with their lives, and their sacrifice is priceless. This made me realize that everything we enjoy today was bought with the blood and lives of the martyrs.
As a contemporary young person, I feel the weight of great historical responsibility. We must not only cherish the peaceful life that the martyrs purchased with their lives but also carry out their unfinished cause through practical action. In our studies and work, we should embody the spirit of not fearing hardship or fatigue, strive to improve our comprehensive qualities, and contribute our strength to the nation's prosperity.
At the same time, this visit made me deeply aware of the importance of patriotic education. We should continuously study and understand our nation's history, remember the great deeds of the martyrs, and carry forward their spirit. In daily life, we can practice the martyrs' selfless spirit through volunteer service, social welfare activities, and other endeavors, spreading positive energy in society.
Looking to the Future
Visiting the Martyrs' Cemetery not only provided me with a profound patriotic education but also filled me with confidence and motivation for the future. I am determined to internalize the martyrs' spirit and externalize it through action, carrying on their legacy through practical deeds. Whether in study or work, I will always take the martyrs as my role models, striving forward with courage.
I also hope that more young people will visit the Martyrs' Cemetery to experience the solemnity and dignity, drawing strength and courage from it. In the fast-paced life of modern society, we need such spiritual purification to keep our original aspirations in mind and forge ahead.
The Xindu District Martyrs' Cemetery in Chengdu is not only a historical monument but also an important base for learning and inheriting the revolutionary spirit. This visit was extremely rewarding — not only did I gain a deeper understanding of revolutionary history, but my soul was also deeply touched. I will continue to study and carry forward the revolutionary spirit, actively contributing to the great cause of socialist construction and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Reflections on Military Theory Practice
Practice Date: 2024.6.13
Through participating in this team-building activity, I deeply felt the importance of teamwork. At the beginning of the activity, we were divided into several groups for challenges, and each group had to work closely together to complete the tasks. This made me understand that the power of a team far exceeds that of any individual.
During the activity, we participated in projects including "Military Knowledge Quiz," "Simulated Military Code Transmission," and "Simulated Land-Sea-Air Force Confrontation." These projects tested not only our knowledge reserves but also cultivated cooperation and teamwork among us. In the "Simulated Military Code Transmission," we needed to accurately transmit information within a limited time, which required not only good communication skills but also a high degree of trust and collaboration. Whenever we successfully completed a transmission task, everyone felt an immense sense of achievement.
The "Simulated Land-Sea-Air Force Confrontation" project allowed us to experience coordination and cooperation among different military branches. We were divided into Navy, Army, and Air Force groups, each playing different roles, and through simulated confrontation, we learned how to conduct effective strategic deployment and cooperation in complex environments. This not only strengthened our team awareness but also gave us a deeper understanding of the interdependence and mutual support among different military branches.
Overall, this team-building activity was extremely beneficial. It not only made me realize the importance of teamwork but also helped me make many new friends. I very much look forward to having the opportunity to participate in such activities in the future, as they are not only fun but also promote continuous personal growth.
Sharing an Outstanding National Defense and Military Film
Film Review: "Snipers"
Question 1: What is the historical background of the war depicted in the film?
"Snipers" is set during the Korean War in the early 1950s. The Korean War broke out on June 25, 1950, and was a military conflict on the Korean Peninsula under the international backdrop of the Cold War. The opposing sides were the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea, along with their respective international supporters — the socialist camp represented by China and the Soviet Union, and the capitalist camp led by the United States. In the early stages of the war, North Korea, with Soviet support, captured most of the south. The US-led United Nations forces quickly intervened, turning the tide of battle and eventually leading to a stalemate. To defend national security and maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, China decided to send troops to aid North Korea.
Question 2: Why did China decide to send troops to fight?
China's decision to enter the Korean War can be analyzed from multiple perspectives:
-
National Security: The US-led UN forces had crossed the 38th parallel and were gradually advancing toward China's northeastern border, posing a direct threat to China's national security. Northeast China was an important industrial base and strategic region. If it fell into enemy hands, it would not only cause severe economic damage but could also directly threaten national independence and sovereignty. Therefore, to defend national security and prevent the flames of war from reaching its doorstep, China had to take measures to protect itself.
-
Internationalism: As a member of the socialist camp, China had an obligation to support Korea's war of resistance against aggression. Resisting US aggression and aiding Korea was not only about defending Korea but also about maintaining international peace and justice. The Chinese People's Volunteer Army's entry into the war was not only to defend national security but also to fulfill internationalist obligations, support an invaded country, and maintain world peace.
-
Political and Military Considerations: If the UN forces were allowed to occupy the entire Korean Peninsula, it would pose a continuous threat to China's northeastern region and disrupt the strategic balance in East Asia, which would be unfavorable for China's long-term development. By entering the war, China could demonstrate its strength on the international stage, enhance its international standing, and establish a friendly neighbor on the Korean Peninsula, creating a strategic buffer.
Question 3: How did the soldiers' fearless spirit affect you?
After watching "Snipers," the fearless spirit of the volunteer soldiers deeply moved me. In them, I saw true courage and valor. Facing well-equipped enemies and extremely harsh conditions, they never retreated, maintaining high morale and firm conviction. This fearless spirit taught me that in life and work, no matter how great the difficulties and challenges, we must face them bravely, not fear hardship, and persevere to the end.
The soldiers' spirit of sacrifice and dedication also deeply touched me. They were willing to give their lives to protect the nation and its people. This made me reflect that as members of modern society, we also need to possess this spirit of dedication, contributing our strength to the progress of our collective and society. Whether in daily work or in emergencies, we should be willing to take responsibility and dedicate ourselves.
Sharing a Classic Military Work
Title of Classic Work: "On War"
Ideas and Perspectives I Find Compelling:
"On War" is a classic work by the German military theorist Carl von Clausewitz and is one of the most influential works in the field of military theory. One of the book's most famous ideas is that "war is the continuation of politics by other means." Clausewitz argued that war is not an isolated act of violence but a continuation of a nation's political objectives and a part of political means. This perspective profoundly reveals the inherent connection between war and politics, providing an important theoretical foundation for understanding the nature of war.
Clausewitz also proposed the "trinity of war" theory, which holds that war is the result of the combined action of the government, the military, and the people. He emphasized the unpredictability of war, noting that friction, fog, and chance are inevitable in war, making it full of uncertainty and complexity. He also emphasized strategic flexibility, arguing that in war, commanders must respond flexibly according to specific circumstances and not be bound by dogma and predetermined plans.
What Value Do These Ideas Have for Guiding Today's National Defense Building and Military Struggle Preparation?
Clausewitz's ideas and perspectives have important guiding significance for today's national defense building and military struggle preparation.
First, the idea that "war is the continuation of politics by other means" emphasizes the dominant role of politics in war. In today's world, war remains a means for nations to achieve their political objectives. Whether to defend national security or maintain international order, war is part of political struggle. This idea reminds us that we must proceed from an overall perspective, comprehensively considering political, economic, diplomatic, and other factors. In preparing for military struggle, political objectives must always be placed first, ensuring that military actions are consistent with the nation's overall strategic goals.
Second, the "trinity of war" theory emphasizes the joint role of the government, the military, and the people in war. In modern warfare, government decision-making, military execution, and popular support are all indispensable. This theory reminds us that in national defense building and military struggle preparation, we must strengthen coordination and cooperation among the government, the military, and the people, forming a powerful force for collective participation and support. The government must formulate clear strategic objectives and policies, the military must possess strong combat capabilities and execution capacity, and the people must have a firm spirit of patriotism and awareness of supporting national defense.
Clausewitz's emphasis on uncertainty and complexity in war provides important insights for understanding the variability and complexity of modern warfare. In modern warfare, rapid technological development and constantly changing battlefield environments make war increasingly unpredictable. The application of emerging technologies such as drones, cyber warfare, and artificial intelligence increases the uncertainty of war. This perspective reminds us that in military struggle preparation, we must attach great importance to intelligence gathering and information analysis, strengthen research and response to various uncertain factors, and ensure the ability to respond flexibly in complex and changeable battlefield environments.
Finally, Clausewitz's emphasis on strategic flexibility reminds us to respond flexibly in military operations and not be bound by fixed patterns and plans. Modern warfare is constantly changing and complex. Commanders must possess a high degree of flexibility and creativity, adjusting strategies and tactics in a timely manner according to actual conditions to ensure the effectiveness and success of combat operations.
